We had a brilliant talk the other day at Futerra from photojournalist and photographic artist Nick Cobbing. Nick’s work focuses primarily on landscape and humankind's changing relationship with the natural world. This is one of his shots from the series Surface Tensions:
Nick also took part in the amazing Cape Farewell project, which brings together artists, scientists and educators to raise awareness about climate change. The project is a wonderful way of integrating art with messaging around this subject:
“One salient image, sculpture or event can speak louder than volumes of scientific data and engage the public's imagination in an immediate way.”
To me, art communicates on the most human level of emotion, and expresses what we cannot put directly into words. Projects such as Cape Farewell highlight the relationship between ‘art’ and the communications industry, and embody this open cross-disciplined way of thinking that suddenly seems to be everywhere.
To finish, a random picture I took in some back street in Paris. I didn’t know why I was taking it at the time, but I do now!
